I trained consistently and regularly without compromise throughout the five years of my university career and graduated with distinction and won academic prizes. I found that if I worked my education and activities around taekwondo, and made the principles an integral part of my life, I developed true success, resilience and understanding of my studies along with other aspects of my life.

How many times do you walk past a mirror and just cannot help but point out all the flaws that you see? Everyone else that sees you doing this might think that you are vein, but it is not a case of being vein is it? When you are overweight and have not been successful in losing all of it, every time you see your reflection you are constantly reminded of what you think is wrong with your image and how many times you have failed in getting rid of the weight. You have to carry it around with you all day, every day of your life until you do something about it, and this can be a timely reminder of how unhappy you are with your image and how much you desire to do something about it once and for all. The thing about weight loss is that it does not happen overnight (although we all wish it would). We would all love to do one days exercise and then wake up the next morning to find the weight gone; but it does not work like this.

Weight loss is something that everyone struggles with, even the thin people we see walking down the road. Even if it is not losing the weight, people struggle with putting it on and gaining muscle. Most people have body issues and do struggle with achieving their weight goals. This does not necessarily make it easier for us to lose our weight, but it can put things into perspective when we think we are all alone with this issue; because we are not and there are people out there that can help. There are so many different people out there that would tell you different ways in which you can lose the weight, and they might contradict the ways you have heard in the past, this does not mean you have been doing it wrong, it just means that certain people have different ways of doing things.

Thus if you are deciding that maybe it is time to get back on track with weight loss and find something that suits you, where do you start? You had better think about your goals in a realistic way and write down some accomplishable goals that are going to help you and not hinder you. The main thing to remember is that weight loss is going to take time and the longer you stick with it and be sensible about it then the more success you will have. That is why you should not set goals that might be insufferable to reach as this could be another way of setting yourself up to fail; and this is the last thing that we want to happen.

There is nothing worse than going to a gym that you just do not feel comfortable in as you will probably never go.
