Comparing A Pair Of Leading Running Pieces Of Equipment

A big part of my workout routine happens to be cardiovascular exercise. I’ll typically spend a bit less than an hour on this.

I could go on about the benefits that come with the territory, as there are many. The biggest rewards that come with running are the improved physical health and the fat burning potential from it all. I also really love the extra boost of energy that it gives me through the rest of the day.

It makes me think that maybe I should force myself to the gym, giving myself no excuses about missing a workout.

One thing that I’ve gone back and forth about recently is whether I’m better off using the treadmill or an elliptical machine as a means of getting my exercise in. Is one of them better than the other?

Well, let’s determine this by looking at the advantages of each method as compared to the other.

First, let’s take a look at the elliptical machine. The advantages of this as compared to the treadmill are pretty nice.

First of all, since you’re not pounding your legs against a hard surface, it’s essentially the equivalent of walking on air, which puts no stress on your legs and knees. This has great implications for your long-term health.

I’m also a big fan of the fact that you can add resistance to your workout, meaning that there’s a better opportunity to build leg strength via this means of exercise.

As far as the treadmill goes, there’s a clear advantage here. The elliptical is nice, but some people simply prefer to run. You’re not getting the true running simulation with the elliptical that you will with the treadmill, and this must be considered.

There’s also the issue of time. People can generally burn calories more quickly by running on a treadmill than they can on the elliptical. If you’re on a tight schedule, you’ll definitely benefit from the treadmill here.
