Start The Practice Of Martial Arts In The Best Place

The explosion in popularity of Mixed Martial Arts over the past decade has resulted in sporting franchises, television sports, and even video games to capture a rabid fan base. A simple boxing or wrestling matches will be overly promoted and often fail to deliver on the hype. In comparison, a Mixed Martial Arts match can draw not only interest for the blinding speed and raw power of the two opponents, but also the strategy they must deploy in order to force the other into submission.
This tactical approach to fighting not only results in a variety of styles throughout a fight, but means that the end result is less bloody and much more family friendly than normal “fight nights”. Mixed Martial Arts techniques rely on speed and endurance, but above all require a well thought out fight. The thinking aspect stems from the difference between offense and defense.
Sprawl and brawl is a tactic that uses effective standing combat moves, while trying to avoid ground fighting and take downs. This kind of fighter is usually a kick boxer, boxer, thai boxer, or karate fighter who is trained in wrestling. These fighters also study submission style wrestling in case they find themselves taken to the ground. This style is very different from normal kickboxing, so almost all traditional competitors will need to alter their techniques.
Offensive attacks are certainly effective, but many find that defensive based Mixed Martial Arts can be superior in the contest for submission. Perhaps the most awe inspiring form of defensive fighting is Brazilian Muay Thai, a stance that requires the full weight of a fighter to constantly be perched upon their toes. This gives the defender the chance to instantly kick out as hard as possible, catching his opponent off guard in the midst of an attack or approach. Likewise, American kenpo is a style that emphasizes several lightning fast strikes in the course of only one or two seconds, causing an attacker to reel for the surprise of the combination counter blows.
Ground based Mixed Martial Arts are most common in UFC fights given the ease by which one can earn a submission if they can pull their opponent onto the floor. Ground grappling is less “pretty” than stand up form but is far more difficult due to the need to control your entire opponent’s weight along with your own.
