There are so many reasons why using indoor rowing machine are excellent for your heath. In this brief article I want to show you why I really believe in rowing for better fitness and increased muscle tone and fat loss.

You increase your well being, because you are improving your appearance and getting a healthy posture.

Obesity, metabolic disorders, along with the alteration of blood vessel (which can lead to heart attack or stroke) can be prevented by regular endurance training. In many so-called “diseases of civilization” indoor rowing is not only helpful as a prevention, but may also influence these diseases just as as a genuine therapy.

Whats more, if you happen to be a little overweight, you can combat that fat by keeping to a steady workout routine and eating plan. I’ve heard and seen men and women lose kilo’s of fat in very little time with these exercise machines.

But why use a rowing machine and not some other fitness equipment?

Indoor rowing is a perfect combination of endurance training and strength training. Rowing is a sport in which nearly all muscles of the body are activated. Simultaneously excellent training stimuli for the buildup of endurance are given.

The motion that is performed by the user when rowing is fantastic for strengthening every muscle and joint in your entire body. On top of this, your body will burn through calories which will strip of unwanted fat and also build up your muscle tone giving you a great looking body.

One more benefit of using a rowing machine is that you train your entire trunk musculature, ie the stomach and upper and lower back. Fitness experts are in complete agreement: the training of the trunk has many advantages – from a stronger back to an upright posture.

Another great benefit is that rowing machines really do a great job at building up your upper body like your chest, shoulders and arms. You may have seen the physic of rowers with they’re strong muscular shoulders and massive arms.

The muscles of the shoulders, of your upper back and of your the arms are getting stronger by each stroke. Because a maximum load is put on many muscle groups simultaneously, rowing exercises are unique in their effectiveness. Obviously this has positive effects on the optimal function of your cardiovascular system.

Also the production of red-colored blood cells will get stimulated, which ensures that your muscles are offered with an increased amount of air.

When you go to bed at night after having done some exercise on one of these simple machines, you’ll be asleep before your head hits the pillow. It truly does use up your energy in a natural healthy way which aids a health sleep.

So I really think that if you want to build up your bodies strength, flexibility and cardio capacity, you should consider using an indoor rower. If you choose to buy one, then might I suggest you join an online forum where you can find out about the best models and talk to others who have more experience.

In this article I want to quickly outline how to use an indoor rower effectively whilst ensuring that you don’t injure yourself. You see, many people just think that they can jump on and start using it, but if you do this and use it incorrectly you can end up sustaining damage to your back and other body parts.

Protect yourself from injury

If you use rowing machines properly and you’ll have fun immediately. It is possible thought to get hurt if you don’t use them right.

The first thing to check is to make sure that the rollers are covered and out of the way. When they are not then I don’t recommend using the machine as you can easily get your shirt caught up in the rollers also it can literally be torn off your back!

Make sure that there are solid footpads which are easy to grip. These are to help balance and support you so they really are critical if you want to get a good workout.

Another place to check are the straps which should also be fully checked over every 30 days to make sure that they are not worn out and ready to snap on you.

Each indoor rower will have a set of guidelines including the maximum weigh of the user. Ensure that you are not over that weight. If you’re then find another rower which is built to support more weight.

Monitoring Your Exercises

With almost every rower there is an on-board computer which can help you keep track of some of the key metrics of your exercise.

If you wish to use this computer whilst working out (and you do) then ensure that it’s in a good position so that you can clearly see the readouts as your exercising.

Most rowers will just have basic readouts but the”re still important. Just about the most basic but very important ones is of course how long you have been on the machine for. This is great for setting targets and milestones.

As you begin to look at more expensive rowers, like the ones at big gyms, you’ll find a range of different features and programs and more data than you could hope to use. Some of the more important ones are the calorie readouts, heart rate monitors and energy burnt.

Another cool reaction you can have on the higher price range models, is it is possible to key in your specific data like your age, body weight, etc and then this will be used to help you computers process your information and provide you with more accurate readouts.

With this information you can build up enough stats on yourself to set goals and push yourself as far as you like. This is one of the best ways to motivate yourself to get results. You can also plug the information into an actual pc where you’ll be able to get even more data, but in my opinion unless your a professional athlete it all gets a bit over the top at that point.

You should now be able to walk into almost any gym anywhere and be able to use a rowing machine to it’s full ability. Whats more, you may even be interested in buying your own, which is an excellent choice if you want the convenience of working out from your own home.

With all the different kinds of rowing machines on the market it can be tough to know what your best options are. So I just want to quickly run you through some of the different ways these indoor rowers have been built so that you can find out what the best one for you is.

Magnetically Powered Rowing Equipment

In these systems – like at a bike – a flywheel mass is driven by the energy which is generated when you make a stroke. The flywheel is slowed either by the magnetic force of several permanent magnets or – in the ideal case – by an electromagnet (as with eddy current resistance). These systems are close to perfect because they allow you a very smooth rowing. You should only ensure that the flywheel mass is huge enough to guarantee gliding exercises. In the ideal case the flywheel mass is still moving when you start with the next stroke.

Many people say that this type of rower is the smoothest. Experts recommend this type if you have been experiencing any back problems for this reason.

Water Rowing Equipment

This next one is for those that really want to go for the natural feeling of rowing whilst doing they’re workout. This idea was come up by the water rower brand and I believe they may have even patented it.This works by moving a paddle through an attached water tank and is very unique compared to the standard models.

The resistance can be calibrated by filling in more or less water. The illusion gets perfect when you hear during your workouts the sound of splashing water. Close your eyes and you are in the center of a silent lake.

Hydraulic Rowing Machines

The best known and most simple system comes with hydraulic cylinder pistons. They are used by models like the Kettler Favorite or the Stamina 1205 precision.

This system has been around for many years. Resistance is generated by a hydraulic cylinder which creates counter-pressures at forward and backward motion. The strength of resistance can be changed by adjusting the leverage or by adjusting each cylinder. And here is the first disadvantage of this system: It will take a certain time until both cylinders are set on a single level. Moreover, these cylinders have a limited lifespan.

Another issue is that once your going you can’t change your position or move much because you will be met by too much resistance from the hydraulics.

This is not the best option if you are over the age of 40 as it can cause damage to joints, muscles and tendons.

Air Rowing Machines

Using a rower which is set up to use oxygen, you will be able to get the most realistic feeling according to many users and experts.

As you workout oxygen will fill the air drive that these are built with which will build up the resistance. These are used by lots of athletes and often used at the Olympic games as they provide one of the best workouts in the most realistic way.

I truly believe that these are an excellent type of indoor rower, but if you want something cheaper than you may want to go with a magnetic one. Like wise if you are older than that’s also your best bet as they tend to be much more low-impact which will ensure that you don’t sustain an injury.

If there’s one way that you can increase your fitness quickly whilst building your muscle tone, it’s by using indoor rowing machines. These are really great because they provide a full body workout and utilize all your muscles in combination with each other. Whats more, they are one of the best cardio exercises that you can do!

There are basically two kinds of rowing machines: those with a movable handle system and those with a wire system.

In practice, the cable control systems have proofed their worth since they guarantee an harmonious flow of movement.

If you have back problems in the lower lumbar area, then you want to rethink ordering a rowing machine. Often an incorrect execution of the exercise leads to an abnormal movement of the back which can result in increasing health problems. Also diseases of the knee (like meniscus injury or inflammation of the joints) require very gentle sportive activities.

In this instance it is advisable to choose a rowing machine which works in a very smooth way so that muscles, ligaments and joints are trained gently.

Quality Requirements For Rowing Equipment

1. Locate a stable body design.

2. Movable handles demand for an increased user ability to coordinate his body movements.

3. Locate a comfortable seat as you are sat on it throughout the workout and so it must fit you well and not make you uncomfortable.

4. Make sure that you select the right length of machine for your height. If you are taller you will not be able to get a short rower as it will not meet your needs. Likewise, if you are shorter than a longer machine will be no healthy for you.

5. A concise and easy-to-use training computer is fun and ensures a motivating effect for training.

6. Of course you really need to measure the dimensions of the rower you like and make sure that it will fit into the room you have for it. You may want to invest in a fold-able one so that it can be stored away and taken out only when you need it.

7. Ask fitness trainers in the club and who have experience with this equipment. You may even want to join an online health club or forum to help you ask questions and discover what they think is the best indoor rower to buy.

By reading the tips that I’ve just provided through and making a mental or even physical note of them, you should have no trouble finding the right rowing machine for you. Just make sure that you stick to using it when you get it as it can be easy to set it aside and forget about it. You may even want to write up a workout routine and eating plan to keep you on the right track.

Over the past few years, a company which has been providing exercise machines for some time has really been doing well. The brand I’m talking about is Kettler and it looks as if they’ve had another winning machine with they’re new indoor rower. If you have not yet heard about this company, then you should read on and find out the reason why they have everybody’s trust.

Karin Kettler has been operating the company since it had been passed down to her by her father within the year of 2005. The company provides all kinds of exercise machines through treadmill machines to stationary bikes as well as rowing equipment which we’ll take a quick look at now.

The indoor rower that I’d like to tell you is the Kettler Coach LS and it is the next model up from the standard coach rowing machine which was released around 7 years ago. Of course with any new release there are many updates and improvements from the older version. For example, they’ve added a linear gliding system which is a first time for any of they’re rowing machines up to this point.

With the new system the seat slides on two glides which gives more stability and allows smoother rowing.

There are also an additional ten more resistance levels which will give you all the levels and milestones you need to reach an extremely high fitness level.

For individuals who do not want to disturb members of the family or neighbours, the very silent (and wear-less) magnetic resistance is a good alternative to air resistance.

With the new readouts you now get a whole host of new data including room temperature which effects your recovery not to mention the standard heart beat monitors, calorie counts and more.

But the Kettler Coach is not only a rowing machine…

It comes with the cushioned backboard that allows you sixteen exercises beside rowing. These include upper-body strength workouts to build up your shoulders, biceps, triceps, back and much more.

After reading this article you may feel like just running out and buying one right now, but I suggest that you also consider looking at other models too, to make sure that it really is the best indoor rower for you.

It was well over a year back now when I finally plucked up the courage to buy my Concept 2 rowing machine. I had got so fed up with having to pay so much for my gym membership that I just too the plunge.

I had worked out the amount of money I had spent over the years working out at the gym and realized that I was getting very ripped off. I could have had half a home gym I though, so started to think about the idea of just buying my own fitness equipment.

Plus, when I went to the gym, I would tend to just stick to 2 or 3 machines. I liked using the rowing machines the most of all and sometimes that would be the only exercise equipment that I went on so it would be far better just to buy the machine and cancel my gym membership.

So I went online and did some research into buying an indoor rower. I read the features and reviews of dozens of rowing machines made my dozens of companies. By the end, I was interested by the Concept 2 model and decided that I would like to buy it.

I remember being really excited about getting my new Concept 2 rowing machine. So excited in fact that I just went directly to Amazon and got myself a brand new model at no discount.

It took under a week to come and as soon as I had tried it out, I knew that I had made the right decision. I promptly cancelled going to the gym and would now use my rower for my exercise needs.

About 1 month after I had bought my rower my friend, who had been using it once a week, bought one for himself. But he didn’t buy an expensive new one like I foolishly had! He got a used on for way less than a quarter of what I paid. His was no different to mine at all and worked just as well!

So the lesson I learnt from this is, don’t just buy home fitness machines new! Look about and find one that is second hand or used but is still in great condition.

You should take a look at this if you want to learn more about home rowing machines.
